Window Size Not Being Saved

When I open a web page from the desktop, no matter what I do, the window
opens as a child (small) window. I've maximized and closed it, Maximized and
held down CTRL while closing and have put the window in the top left corner
and dragged the opposite corner to fill the screen and held CTRL down with
no success.

Any help will be appreciated,
James

Hi, James.

This is one of the longest-running complaints about IE! The fix is easy -
but it is easily broken again, so the fix must be applied again quite often.

The fix: just make sure that ALL other IE windows are closed. Then size
the current IE window to what you want. Then close the window. Next time
you start IE, the window should be that last size. :<)

BUT, if in your new session, you close a small window LAST, that small size
is what IE will remember for next time. ;>(

It's hard to remember to always close the large IE window LAST. Often, we
close several IE windows, only to find a small window lurking behind. In
frustration, we click the X to close that small window - and it says,
"Gotcha!" That small size is what will open next time.

Hello James,

In addition to R.C.'s post:

Applying Method Two in this tutorial while following R.C.'s suggestions
may help solve your problem.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

First, I don't see ie in the Taskbar.
What I'm have trouble with is a web page that I would create
a shortcut for on the desktop, created from within ie. That window doesn't
open maximized. IE opens fine whein I open it from the Star Menu

No good.
I open ie like I alway do - from the start menu. This opens maximized, no
problem. I create a shortcut of a web page from my favorites to my desktop.
I close ie. Then I double click on the shortcut I created and it opens as a
child
window (not maximized).

Hi James,

See if when you click on the shortcut to open a IE window and maximize
it and then close the IE window, that it will open maximized when you
click on the shortcut again.

If not, then apply Method Two in this tutorial and try the above again
to see if will remember that folder view setting afterwards.

'Windows Explorer Folder View settings'

Hope this helps,
Shawn
