Window Update for ME

I posted this in the Windows ME Application area Sunday and have gotten no
response, so assume I posted it in the wrong area. So am posting here.

I recently had to reload ME. Since that time I get the
following message when I try to update windows:

"To install items from Windows Update, you must be logged
on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators
group."

Any ideas how (1) I can return to a normal update status
or (2) log on as administrator so I can get allow myself
to get updates?

As additional information, I have tried the suggestions in Microsoft
Articles 326686, 228548, and 241234 and none of them apply to my case.

Thanks,

Ron
