Usung Vista Home Prem 32bit. I have utilized the Remote features to assist a
friend in another state by taking control of his PC remotely. I was just
reviewing a comparision Chart of the new Windows7 versions. It shows Desktop
Remote Host is not available in Windows7 Home Prem....have I understood this
correctly?

7 Home Premium is only a client AFAIK - if you want to initiate a remote
session from 7 Home Premium then have a look at TeamViewer.

Hi,

Don't confuse Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop as they are two different
things with very differing purposes. The first is available to all, and
requires that the recipient (host) ok the connection. The latter does not
require interaction from the host, and the Home versions do not support
being a host, only a client.

So can we assume that Live Mesh will continue to work with Windows 7, thus
allowing us to access remotely another pc's desktop via Mesh?

Hi,

I don't know. The specs for mesh listed here:
https://www.mesh.com/Welcome/howto/reqs.aspx do not mention Win7 and I've
not heard nor seen anything regarding it. I would assume nothing.

Thanks. I appreciate the link. I've used mesh with the RC successfully -
at least accessing the pc running RC1. Haven't tried it the other way.
Therefore, I have my fingers crossed.

I have no experience with Live Mesh myself, but for what it's worth, I
have a copy of the book "Windows 7 Secrets" here, and it says Live
Mesh is available in Windows 7.

I have win 7 64 bit premium. I go "start" type "remote" in the "search
programs" box, got the same prompt as vista and logg right into my
business computer just like with vista.

Not sure what everyone is talking about here.
