Windows 2000 Folder Explorer Preview Pane

my JPG files won't view in the Explorer Preview Pane (center of the window).
I can view TIFF, BMP & GIF (for example) but not JPG or JPEG.
I search the web for solutions, but none found that I understand. I believe
I installed some software that removed the feature, but I can't get it back.
Any suggestions?
