Hi,

I have a Windows 2000 PC that I recently reformatted. I am doing the
updates and am having problems. When I go to search for updates it finds
two. One is the Update Rollup1 for Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (KB891861).
The second is a Security Update for Microsoft Virtual Machine (816093). When
I click on them, it says it installs them and lists them as being
successfully installed. But when I restart they are both listed again as
needing to be installed. I tried custom install and tried installing them
separately but the same thing happened. I am logged on as administrator so it
is not a permissions thing. I checked the list of programs installed in
add remove programs and neither are listed. Can anyone shed some light on
this problem.

Thanks,

I had the same experience. I downloaded several updates but they did not
install. When I went to the update history to find the reason for the
failure, I found the Error code 0x80246005. Did you get an error code with
your problem?

Thanks
