I thought i would be "cool" and reformat my brother's hard drive without a
startup disk. I installed windows 2000 again but need to upgrade it to XP.
I have the upgrade disk but it gives me the following error:

"Setup cannot ugrade your current installation to Windows XP.
Your current installation of Window is not a supported upgrade path."

Please help!!...my brother will kill me if i cant get it back to XP. Where
can I get this path?

Note: The computer has been updated with all window's 2000 updates.

THANKS!!

Only a "Retail Version" of "Windows XP Professional" can
upgrade over Windows 2000. Which version of Windows XP
did you acquire?

Amy;
Retail or OEM Windows XP?
OEM will not upgrade.

Windows XP Home or Pro?
Windows 2000 will not upgrade to Windows XP Home.

Since this is a Windows Update newsgroup and not an upgrade newsgroup, you
should direct further questions to a Windows XP newsgroup:

That is your opinion and some agree with it, I am not one of them.
But I did not ask the question either.
