Hi,

I have a win 2003 Ent DC converted in Virtual Machine Manager to a Hyper-V
Virtual Machine for a test environment.

It takes very long to boot and when i eventually get into windows and try
and activate it the activation screen never appear. Just a white window.

This server is running all the services like DHCP, DNS, Exchange ex. I have
disabled DHCP and Exchange for now but not making a big difference.

Is there a way to activate windows via command line or in some other way?

Or why will it be stuck on Applying computer settings forever when booting.

I dont think this is a VMM issue but more a Windows server issue

Thanks

I am setting up my first ever Windows 2003 server. Once installed, I can see
the server if it is setup as part of a workgroup, but not as a domain.

I am trying to follow the Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2
Administrator's companion, but am having no luck getting the server to
function within a small stand alone network.

Is there a better guide I should be following to get this server to
function?

You need to complete the setup to have SBS complete it's configuration. You
should have a desktop icon to continue after the inital OS is installed.
Also, there is a SBS specific newsgroup microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs
dedicated for SBS 2003 and SBS 2003 R2.

Download - Sybex Windows Server 2003 Network Simulator
this runs a virtual server and gives step by step instructions on loads of
things
