Windows 2003 Activation

Hi,

I'm having trouble activating Windows 2003 Server Enterprise over the
Internet. The OS is running within a Virtual PC 2004 image. The
activation dialog spends an age with "Checking for connectivity..." and
then comes back with a message indicating that no connection could be
found.

The system definietly has Internet connectivity, as I'm using it to
write this Google group entry )

Any thoughts?

Your virtual pc might not have internet connection. How did you set up your
network?

Hi,

Thanks for replying. The VPC seems to have an Internet connection, as
I'm able to use the browser within the VPC to browse the Internet. I
can also ping both the host machine and a remote machine on the
Internet successfully. Both the host PC and the VPC are in the same IP
address group.

When I kick off the Activation, and it starts it's "Checking for
connectivity..." thing, I can see the network icon on the VPC
flickering frantically....but then it stops and says "No connection
found...".

It's really quite strange, as I've done this a few times before with
VPC and Win 2K3 and never had an issue!

Hi,

A cause for celebration - it's finally Activated. I just kept trying
(19 times in all) and it eventually worked. Frustrating, as I shall
never know why....
