Windows 2003 Enterprise Server - Online update Validation error

Hi,

Hope you guys can help.

I have purchased a Server with Windows 2003 Enterprise Server already
loaded. I needed to change some settings that required the OS CD which I did
not have, so dowloaded the trial ISO image from MS. This allowed me to make
the chages I required, but it doesn't let me update as it can't authenticate
it as legitimate.

The OS was already activated when i purchased the server, but not sure if
the online update worked as i didn't try it before i made the changes.

The Validation report states that the ActiveX control encountered an error.

I'm not sure if this is a problem with the ActiveX/IE setup or a conflict
with using a trial version of the i386 from the CD to make changes to the
legitimate version of the OS already installed.

The CD Key reported as active for the machine is different from that from
the email sent when i ordered the trial software.

Many thanks in advance for any thoughts/comments and assistance

Sorry, but if you did not receive an authentic, genuine, Microsoft 2003
Enterprise 2003 CD with your used computer, you do not have a legitimate
license to use the operating system. The trial version is of no use to you.

Many thanks for your response Carey.

I've managed to get hold of the CD's and documentation from the seller who
had difficulties in finding the correct CD's...hence not having them
initially.

Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue or at least identify if
it's a problem with the ActiveX/IE setup or a conflict I caused by using the
trial CD as a tempory repository of the i386 folder whilst I waited for the
original CD's

I'm not looking forward to having to re-install the OS again.

Thanks again

Gareth
