Windows 2003 - file attributes change to read only

I have 10 Windows 2003 servers, 3 of them are exhibiting a strange problem.
When editing ASA SQL databases and logs, the file attribute changes to RA.
Essentially the file becomes a read only file. I remove the attribute and it
continues to change it once the file is written to. Any ideas?

Please let me know if this is not the correct area to post.
