Hello!
i want to test a software (enterprise search 2008 express). i donīt want to
install the software on a productive server with other services so i donīt
know if we want to use the software after test. and i donīt want to buy a
licence for testing only.
so i think i install a 180day Version of windows 2003 server. but iīm not
sure if thatīs a good idea to do this in an productiv enviroment. i read
that the server has the same full functionals as the normal version. does
anybody have this use before? is this a good idea? are there any problems?

the advantage for me is that if we dont want the software, i can delete the
server and the other systems are clean. if we want to use the software, i
install a full server and backup/restor the settings, files, ... from the
search server.

in our enviroment are only 2003 (R2) servers. normaly domain

thanks a lot for all ansers and tips
wilfried

Install VirtualPC on a high quality XP Workstation.
Install a Server OS in a VM in VirtualPC
Run the trialware in the VM
Dump the VM when it expires and you don't need it anymore.
