Windows 2003 Server SP2 - Windows Update fails after install

Hi all,

I look after a number of servers for customers and started doing some trials
of the Windows 2003 SP2 update. Luckily I had some new Servers which needed
fresh installs to start with, one x86 and one x64, both identical HP ML370
G5's..

After the fresh installation, I installed Windows 2003 SP2 onto both. No
issues, both completed successfully. I didn't enter into the windows update
page prior to installation

I then went to the windows update page. Selected the new windows update and
select custom.

After a 20 seconds or so, I get the following error back: 0x80070002

At the bottem of this email is the logs from one of the windowsupdate.log
file:

This is replicated on both Servers, as well as one of my production X64
Servers.. It seems to be too much of a coincidence.. The production Server
has never had a problem with Windows Update prior to SP2 being installed.

Does anyone have any information on a resolution to this problem? I
am seeing the exact same behavior on my Windows Server 2003 64 bit
after installing SP2. None of the Microsoft KB articles are helping
any.

Found a resolution on my setup... for whatever reason, the Windows
firewall was not enabled on my server. As soon as I enabled the
Windows firewall, Windows Update started working. That is very
bizarre.

I'll try it on one of my Servers today.. I never start the Firewall on
Servers..
