Windows 7 and virtual pc

Hi guys
I bought 2 pc since windows 7 accept ion and I am quite puzzled. I see few
benefits here and there - streamlined home network between w7 clients, built
in backup / recovery in it's simplest implementation.
.... and long list of drawbacks: - high memory footprint, not compotability
with every peace of software one can think of - old xp office, third party
tools - korn shell, remote software, anti virus, backup - every single thing
one can imagine.
And this XP compatibility mode which only works with some processors which
I happen not to have on 1 of my new laptops. What should I run on it? Virtual
PC 2007 is not compatible as anything else with w7.
What is this product which advertise it's built-on compatibility with 10yr.
old OS as it's advantage point?
To me it's more like emergency cover up for failure.
Should I return both laptops and buy specialized 'business' versions which
run Vista or HP?

If you want to run virtualization at the best speed, yes, you need new
hardware, no matter the virtualization product you use.

You don't need business class to do it, you just need a PC that has a
processor that is cable of it and a manufacturer that supports it. I
haven't bought a PC in 4 years that wasn't cable of VT, so it can be
done. Don't ask me why Intel doesn't put it in everything...

Virtual PC 2007 SP1 will run on Windows 7. But if Windows 7 Virtual PC is
installed, you will have to uninstall it first.
