First, I looked for a Windows 7 community, which is where this question
belongs. Is there one that I missed?

Anyway Many 7 users and I are having explorer crashes while we are browsing
the file system. For me it usually happens when using an auto run context
menu with my DVD. If you click on the message it will start right back up
with no problem, but it's getting to be a nuisance.

I have disabled a Mozilla addon, Better Privacy, which some said was
suspect, but no change. I also looked for a registry value that was said to
be causing it, but it's non existant in my Home Premium 32 bit. I can't seem
to find my reference to it right now, but it was something about throttling.
The registry location was there but no throttling value was set.

Windows 7 Explorer has been unstable in all the betas and in the commercial
product, something I am astounded reviewers have not noted.
A very common issue involves clicking on a file or folder in selection pane
on the left only to find unrelated directory trees open and the wrong file
or folder end up selected, usually off screen. The decision to hide optical
drives when not in use has led to some truly bizarre behavior when a CD is
burned by a program other than Windows. Try this with , say, Itunes, for an
instant example.
And if you think Windows Explorer is erratic you must not be using IE8 under
Windows 7 . . .
Windows 7 is an improvement over Vista but it is essentially Vista SP3 with
a different GUI and created by the same corporate mind set. This thing has
lots of bugs/glitches that Microsoft is getting a pass on.

No, its not for better support. In fact, I would suggest posting it in
the newsgroup alt.windows7.general found on some news servers. Also,
just killfile Leroy, they never help anyone here and just post links to
the useless web forums.
