Office 2007 should run on Windows 7, for sure.
NOTE:
In your reply to Richard G. Harper you mentioned the old Office 97 from the
year 1997. I don't know about it - it does work on Vista (apparently you
might have to ignore occasional warnings ) - and so probably should run on
Windows 7 - but I haven't come across confirmation on that one

If it is the twelve year old Office 97 that concerns you and not Office

As I mentioned before, Windows 7 Professional will have a virtual machine
running XP available. Office 97 should be able to run in that if it doesn't
run on Windows 7 natively [or natively in compatibility mode]. But again, I
have to say I haven't confirmed it.
