alt.windows7.general is avalable on some servers, I use aioe.org at work and
Shaw cable at home.

Did you even bother to search? This posts seems to be occurring at LEAST
5-10 times a WEEK. Microsoft is not going to make any Win7 groups. In
fact, its only a matter of time before they pull the plug on these
groups. They are going all web-based forums now. There is a non-MS Win7
newsgroup out there. Its called alt.windows7.general. Check your
favorite NNTP server to see if they carry it and if not, I know
nntp.aioe.org does.

Unfortunately it's highly unlikely that there will be any Microsoft
Windows 7 newsgroups. Apparently Microsoft has decided that web-based
forums are better than newsgroups and they are putting their efforts
there. I'm personally sorry that's the case, but it's their decision,
not mine.

However there is at least one non-Microsoft Windows 7 newsgroup:
alt-windows7.general. Not all servers carry it (at least not yet), but
here's one free news server that does: aioe.org

The Microsoft forums are only available on the web. These are the ones
Microsoft personnel monitor and contribute to, so problems reported
there will be noted.

Any other newsgroup is unofficial chat.

There are the MS web-based forums as Dominic pointed out, or if you
prefer a newsgroup, try alt.windows7.general

People have been "helped" plenty on this subject. If they are too lazy
to search for answers its not my problem. However, the new MS Answers
forums would be perfect for people like this. Those forums are loaded
with clueless people asking the same question over and over and over again.

Absolutely. I don't recall seeing this level of total brain death in
either the XP forums or even the Vista forums. The standard of posting
and the questions being asked is so low as to be unbelievable.
