Number 1 is the cause of the updating issue as the Windows Update Agent
(WUA) can not be updated with Comodo acting as the firewall.
Checked a little on Comodo's forum and, if I understand this correctly,
the product is actually Comodo Internet Security 3.13.126709.581.
I suggest you uninstall Comodo, reboot, and see if the system can
successfully update the WUA.
Unfortunately, there are *long* threads in Comodo's Firewall forum about
issue when uninstalling it:
Full Removal of Comodo Firewall Pro 3 with SafeSurf Toolbar (If Regular
Uninstall Method Fails)
http://forums.comodo.com/help-for-v3...-t17220.0.html
Use the steps for Vista if you find that uninstalling it leaves "stuff"
behind which may inhibit internet connectivity and the updating of Windows.
IF you want to retain Comodo as the firewall then I suggest you post to
their forum for assistance.
Frankly speaking, the native Windows 7 firewall used in conjunction with
a router that has a hardware firewall (most wireless and wired routers
have a hardware firewall these days) is sufficient protection.
Use a Standard User Account instead of the pseudo-Admin account that's
created when Win 7 initially boots and the system will be even more secure.
