I am trying to run the setup to upgrade my system from Vista Home Edition to
Windows 7, but I am getting this error message " Windows could not retrieve
information about the disks on this computer"
Everything works ok with windows vista, the problem is with the upgrade to
the new Windows 7 Beta.

I tried to do it, via booting from the cd, and when I choose the option to
upgrade, I got the message, that the setup need windows vista in order to
install.

I have a Maxtor HD sata, I a LG DVD, CD writer drive (sata)

Please your help will be appreciated.

Do you happen to have an SD card in the machine. I tried an upgrade on one
of my machines and it hung when checking the SD card. After pulling out the
SD card the upgrade ran fine. In terms of upgrading vs clean install I've
done two of each and as always with Windows, you'll run in to fewer issues
with a clean install but end up having to reinstall your applications and
restore your data.
