Windows 7 + Windows Virtual PC = frozen host

I have a Dell Inspiron 1721 latptop that freezes up every time I boot up a
virtual machine. I'm running the RTM version of win7, and the RC version of
WVPC. The lockup happens almost instantly after the guest boots. If I
downgrade my bios to the previous version, i get BSOD instead. The BSOD
mentions that an interrupt on a processor wasn't received in the expected
time frame.

The laptop has a Turion TL-56 processor in it - which is capable of hardware
based virtualization.

Any suggestions on how I can get WVPC working on this machine?

If you don't get it to work, you might want to try vBox. Here is
tutorial on how to install W7: 'Tutorial: How to install Windows7 in

Sorry for not being more clear - Windows 7 is my HOST. I'm trying to get the
Virtual XP to work on my development laptop so that I can run older versions
of IE & Visual Studio under the VMs.

it does, but you can't run it at the same time as Windows VPC.

Check for BIOS updates and possibly any newer drivers for the system.

I've done all of that. Even tried to discuss it with dell - since what I've
found points to it being something wrong with the BIOS - but they were less
than helpful.

If anyone at MS is paying attention to this thread, please tell DELL to fix
the BIOS for this issue.
