windows 98 update prob

I am trying to do updates, but it says "Software Update Incomplete". I've
tried everything that it said to do except change things in V4 (I am not a
computer pro). Seems the updates aren't working. Buy the way, this all
happened when I installed Macaffe Virusscan 9.0. In the meantime I deleted
it & re-installed Win98SE. Help please!

Hmmm - what AV did you have installed previously?
AFAIK, McAfee plays nicely with Win9x (unlike one or two others), so knowing
a little more of the history may help.

Can you install anything else without problems?
is there any more to the error message?

Have you checked for malware?
You may have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

download AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to
remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.
