Still should not be necessary.
But if you already haven't, you should run Upgrade Advisor on the Windows XP
CD.
Uninstall, not just disable, disconnect everything Upgrade Advisor has
issues regardless if it is compatible with Windows XP or not.
Also uninstall and anti virus, anti spyware programs etc.
