Windows 98 update to windows xp

I have tried to update windows 98 to windows XP but some errors messages were
showed. I don't know what they mean. the first one says: "installation
program can't copy f:\I386\mfc42.dll to c:\WINDOWS\setup\mfc42.dll and a
second one after says:installation program can't copy f:\I386\mgisol.dll to
c:\WINDOWS\setup\mgisol.dll. Aftwerwards a last message says: Installation
program can't go on. Contact Microsoft technical support.[Error: 5F8FF58h].
What should I do?
