yeah well i about threw my computer out the window when it says i need to
activate windows because my key is in use already or windows will stop
working in 2 days. i had to reformat my PC due to other vista problems. i
activated it before i reformatted right away when i first started using
vista. now it thinks they i am running vista on 2 computers. they dont give a
option that says "i reformatted and this is the same user/computer as it was
before and i dont want to deal with a bunch of question posting" so yeah what
should i do about this? i need help fast or my computer will be thrown out
the window

HI Jim--

I'll bet the other Vista problems might have been fixedwithout
formatting--did you try Startup Repair from the DVD which is not just for no
boot Vista problems?

What you should do about the activation problem is to call MSFT--the number
is provided on the activation wizard, so follow instructions for telephoning
them, and they'll straighten things out. The appropriate number for your
location will be displayed.

To quote Mr. Frish:

"You can get started with phone activation by typing "slui.exe 4"
(w/o the quotes) in the Start Search box in the Start Menu and pressing
Enter.
The phone activation process takes about 6 minutes."

Happened to me also. I ended up having to call in and get this
ridiciously long new activation code from someone who was fluent in
Hindi, but not English: "Oit, fv, tin, tee, nai..(those are
numbers!)....... I can tell you I wanted to throw a lot out of the
window that day, including my computer, Microsoft, my wife, four kids,
the dog with puppies, outsourcing as way to cut cost and finally
myself. But I am still here, so it is possible to get though it..

Follow the instructions, phone Microsoft, 10 minutes later you'll be up
and running.

I guess Americans are pretty self absorbed since all the media anchors talk
about fuel economy and jump into their C02 spewing SUVs, and their apathy
now has their butts wiretapped to the gills, hemorrhaging money in Iraq and
losing tons of soldiers lives, but I couldn't quite understand the insane UK
prejudice against "Gingers" aka Ginges aka people with red hair on Nightline
tonight.

You don't see much of Dennis the Miller except on Fox Noise after he started
his neocon rants despite the fact that his far flung analogies were
entertaining when he was on Monday Night football.

CH

LOL congrats to Rudy Guilliani who was moronic enough to hire Mr. World War
IV Norman Podhoretz as his foreign policy "advisor." With the draft that
would have to result after Podhoretz/Guilliani invaded Iran they'd end up
taking dauhgter Caroline out of the Harvard Yard and son Andrew off that
golf course hauling their asses into a tank.

LOL. It's not really a serious prejudice amongst any sensible people here.

I am a European living in America. This kind of stuff is frustrating,
especially in a tech newsgroup. It causes bad feelings among peole who
should be friends. I know self absorbed Americans, Brits and
Mongolians for that matter, but I do not talk about it here (until
now). Take it to alt.soc.self.absorbed or something like that.

Not even 10 minutes, more like 2...you read him a code , he reads you a code
back. Try Yoga or something with less caffeine

It's a signature -- Automatically rotated, by tradition to be taken
lightly, as a joke or amusing quote.

2 minutes is an under-estimate, IIRC the averages are in the 4 range for
an "ideal call" (no repeats, no arguments, customer answers the
questions correctly)

10 minutes is traditional "under-promise, over-deliver" philosophy.
