Have you read this KB article -
You receive error code 0x8007F0DA when use the Windows Update Web site or
the Microsoft Update Web site to install updates:

Yes I read the KB article. Followed the instructions. No success. KB 958050
leads to ID 822798 which also did not cure the problem. Whenever an article
said to check this or that box and remove or add a check mark my settings
have been in line with the instructions.

Any other thoughts? Should I look for duplicate files? Is there a way to
check line by line in registry or is that what scannow did? I also scanned
with jv16. Would another registry tool be more helpful? mackey1

There is a very good chance are that you are seeing the affects of a
hijackware infection.

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/ma...e/default.mspx

2. Run the Windows Live Safety Center's 'Protection' scan (only!) in Safe
Mode with Networking, if need be:
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm

3. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting the requested
logs in an appropriate forum, not here.

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
