Windows automatic updates failed

I tried to install Windows automatic updates, but most of the times the
updates failed and it generates an Error Code: 0x8007010B

What Anti-virus do you use? Some AV can cause Windows Update to fail.

I am using the Anti-virus McAfee Security Center. Does this cause Windows
Update to fail?

I am using BitDefender and my updates fail unless I install them on shutdown.
If I want to install them with out shutting down I have to disable my
AntiVirus and then it will work. It may be the same with McAfee.

I was also having 0x8007010B problems along with 0x800FFFF problems
installing. I was having them on both windows server 2003 enterprise and
windows server 2003 enterprise. In the end it was a simple fix - I had to
log on to the machine as the local administrator, and then the updates worked
like a charm.
