Windows Backup and Screen Saver Password

I have just install Windows 2003 SBS and am using the Windows backup/restore
utility for the first time.

I am running the backup under the administrator.

The backup does not run if I choose "on resume, password protect" in the
screen saver options. I like the security of using this option.

Try connecting to the server from a client machine using remote desktop and
running the job(s) remotely. I think RD is disabled by default but you
should be able to fix this under one of the tabs in My Computer ->
Properties.

The presence of a screen saver password on a client machine shouldn't affect
the job(s).

Schedule the backups to run so that they will run even if no one is logged
into the server. That way you don't need to worry about any screen saver
passwords etc.

I was not clear -- I have scheduled these backup jobs to run every night
using the schedule feature of the backup wizard. They automatically run at
3am. I don't know how to schedule the backups to run even if no one is
logged on.

Thanks!

Configure a user wth the appropriate permissions. It doesn't need to be run
as a administrator. A member of the "Backup Operators" Security group should
work. If this doesn't give you enough permissions you may have to add a new
group. When you schedule the job specify this user, not the administrator.
When not actually doing something on the server you should log out. The
server dosn't need anyone logged in to function.
