Hello, I have installed BOINC client and Vista blocks it after logon, so
I wanted to enable it, but why the hell should I do it?
It shows as "not yet classified", but the only active buttons are
remove and disable! Meanwhile it scans, so shall I wait until it scans
whole drive and then it will be active or what should I do to
permanently enable this?

Hi VitasLoWang,

Does this program require to "Run as administrator"? If so, you may
need to use Task Scheduler (Method Two) in Option One of this tutorial
to get it work properly at startup.

As near as I can remember I had no problems with it running. Just installed
it, set up SETI and off it went.

Mr. Saunders,

I don't know why, but for some reason I always had problems with the
BOINC client on my Vista machine and finally decided to permanently
uninstall it. I had no problems whatsoever with the World Community Grid
client and ran it successfully on XP for years and successfully on Vista
until WCG decided to integrate it with BOINC.
I hated to quit supporting WCG. Nevertheless, I found that BOINC wasn't
worth the trouble.

I believe the way that Vista handles BOINC depends on the way it is installed.
If it is installed to run as a service (it runs even when no one logs on) It
needs
some special privilege (like administrator, or system) and Vista (or Windows
Defender) apparently doesn't like this so the startup is blocked until you
authorize it
If it is installed as a screen saver, then it is run under your login and
doesn't have to start a service.
I'm not 100% sure that I'm right but......

Hi Ramesh,

Is there something wrong with your site. I keep getting the "Apache 2
Test Page" or the "Forbidden" error page. I hope you get it back up and
running soon.
