Every time I restart Windows on my Dell notebook I receive this message:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the
cause. To fix this problem:
(1) Insert Windows installation disc and restart
(2) Choose language settings
(3) Click 'Repair your computer.'
It further reports File: \Boot\BCD, Status 0xc000000f, and Info: An error
occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.
So I follow the above instructions and click repair. Windows then reports
that it found problems with the computers' startup options, and asks whether
I want to apply repairs and restart? Under 'view details' there is further
information on the problem as follows:
The following startup options will be added:
Name Windows Vista Ultimate (recovered)
Path: Windows
Windows Device: Partition=C: (177893 MB)
Name: Windows Code Name "Longhorn" Preinstallation Environment (recovered)
Path: Windows
Windows Device: Partition=D: (10240 MB)
When I select repair, the computer then restarts normally.
As this happens with every reboot my question is what am I accidentally
deleting or what is my installed software doing that may be causing this
problem.
Any help would be appreciated.
