Hi at all,

I have Windows Vista bussiness edition. Until this morning it works fine,
but when
I updated it with the last available updates from Microsoft and many turn
off and restarts it's start to have some problems.
I logged on as Administrator and whenever I executed something , iexplorer,
firefox, control panel, or every other things it told me
"Windows cannot access the specified device....", even the turn off button.
To turn off Vista I must log off myself and from there turn off Vista.
Is it a virus? is it an microsoft's update problem?
Is there anyone have the some problem of mine?

thanks a lot
roberto

Have you tried System Restore? A point is created for each update session.

Boot to the Safe Mode menu (Press F8 on restart. during the 'black screen'
after the BIOS screen), choose "Safe Mode with Command Prompt".

HOW TO Start System Restore Tool from Command Prompt (Q304449):

Not much help to you but I am having the same problem with my Windows Vista
Home Premium. I updated and now can't do anything and have tried to reboot
under safe mode but it keeps going back to the same page saying Configuration
update stage 3. 0% complete then re-starting again. Have you had any luck?

Hi Shirley,
Yes, I was lucky, the problem aren' microsoft updates, but my COMODO
firewall (software firewall). When I updated my pc with the last microsoft's
update
I update also the COMODO firewall with a newer version. When I uninstalled
COMODO firewall fom my Vista all come right. Maybe there is an
incompatibility issue between COMODO and the last microsoft updates.
This works for me.

I hope it helps you.

I too am using Comodo Firewall, but I didn't want to uninstall it. I found
that opening the interface, manually selecting Installation Mode, then
running the install did the trick.
