Windows could not search for new updates

Hi, each time i try to update my pc i keep getting this message "Windows
could not search for new updates" and Error(s) found: Code 8024402c. I am
using Windows Vista Home Basic Service Pack 1.
Can anyone help?

on the Windows Update Web site

If that does not resolve the issue:
You may receive an error message when you search for available updates
on the Windows Update Web site or on the Microsoft Update Web site
