I've installed windows debugging tool with the required symbols and it ran
fine. I reformatted the drive, reinstalled vista 32, sp1; along with the
debugging tool. Now everytime i run it, i get the error message my symbols
are incorrect. I've downloaded 4 different versions of the symbol set....
nothing works. I've tried with and without the Sp1 installed, but still
will not work. I desperately need to read the minidump because of the BSOD
that i keep getting. Any help is appreciated.

Mick

Hi Mick,

What are you using for a symbol file path? Try:
SRV*c:\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols

I'd be happy to look at the dump for you as well, but if a clean install is
still getting blue screens, then you likely have a hardware issue.

thank you for the quick reply... actually i'm using the browser feature on
debugger, instead of the command line. i'll give this a try and report
back.

Rick the url that you provided isn't working, this is the message i'm
getting.

The data you requested cannot be retrieved.
You have reached this page because either you or an application that you are
running has tried to retrieve debugging data from Microsoft. The requested
data is either not available or needs to be retrieved by using the latest
Microsoft Symbol Server technology.

This internet debugging data storage site is provided by Microsoft to
enhance debugging by automatically retrieving debugging files for various
Microsoft products during a debugging session. The data at this site is not
browseable. Instead, it is accessed by the Microsoft Symbol Server
technology that ships with Microsoft Debugging Tools for Windows.

For more information about how to use the Microsoft Internet Symbol Server

Then when i click on the link i get this message..... We are sorry, the page
you requested cannot be found.
