windows defender & windows update!!!

I keep getting the same error message for both updates??? I am running vista
home premium on my e-machines pc...I just bought it on saturday morning, and
neither microsoft would help me( i declined to pay the 60$) and emachines did
nothing as well... I am getting the error code 80245003 for both updates,
windows and defender!!! please help asap!!!
