Windows Defender Definition update fails, error code 0x8000B0109

Windows 2000 SP4. Update KB915597 (latest definition update for Windows
Defender Beta 2) repeatedly fails with the above error code. Any idea how to
resolve?

Please post this issue to the Windows Defender newsgroup, specifically,
"Spyware signatures".

I'm having the same problem with Windows Defender Definition Update KB915597:

Installation Failure
Error Code: 0x800B0109

I'm trying to see if I can resolve it now, so I'll let you know if I can
figure it out. If anyone beats me to it, then both rationalgaze and I would
be most appreciative for some help!

Dear All,

I seem to have resolved the problem, although I'm not sure quite which step
was critical in the fix. The updates I installed this morning are listed
below. It was not the DirectX update that fixed the problem, as you can see,
the Windows Defender Definition Update failed after that had been completed.
My best guess is that it was the Roots Certificate Update that fixed it, but
I'm not really sure.
