When windows defender starts its automatic scan each week and if I would like
to stop it while it is running for any reason, i get an error message
stating: above error and that the Specified module could not be found. I have
to exit Defender
completely to stop the scan from continuing. Help?? Any ideas out there?

IF the OS is XP, give this a shot. Open a Command Prompt [ Start > Run >
type in cmd > Click OK or press Enter]
At the prompt type in, and the press Enter after *each* command

regsvr32 msxml3.dll
exit

Try another scan and see if you can stop it now.
If not, suggest you post to the Windows Defender newsgroup as this one
deals with issues with Windows Updates:
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...s/default.mspx

Ty the " General questions " group.

Microsoft has established separate newsgroups for Windows Defender support
and comments. This is not one of them.

See
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...s/default.mspx

TIP: Access these newsgroups using your default newsreader, not your
browser. See instructions on above page.

Dear Robear, thank you for taking the time to direct me to the proper site,
however, and I did post on the site you suggested. No one came to my help.
Thank God for MowGreen (MVP) his suggestions above resolved my issues and now
I am a happy camper again. Thank you again.

You're mowst welcome. Somehow, msxml3.dll became 'unregistered'.
http://www.updatexp.com/0x8007007E.html

" There are many applications that ship with MSXML 3.0. Uninstalling any
one of those applications on a Windows XP system could potentially
unregister the MSXML 3.0 assembly files (msxml3.dll and msxml3r.dll). "

Anywho, glad to hear the defs are installing now.
