Hi!

Please Help.

I am having difficulty in trying to get the latest update on my Windows
Defender for 4 days now. Everytime I tried a failed update resulted. I
observed this lately after I installed the trial version of Windows Live
OneCare. I already uninstalled windows live onecare but still the error in my
updates remains. I even tried to uninstall and re-install my Windows Defender
just recently still yields the same result.

Anyway, I am taking the updates at the Microsoft Update site cause doing it
in my windows defender homepage will not do eversince it was installed in my
laptop. But I tried to get the update at its homepage update check to see and
compare its result. It displayed this error, Error Found: Code 0x80240022.

What does it mean and what must I do?

You can repair the installation of WD by going to Control Panel,
Add/Remove Programs, click on Windows Defender, and then click the
Change button
Suggest you attempt that *first*

If no joy, download the update from the link under Windows Defender on
this page and SAVE it: http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/default.aspx

Close the browser and *any other* open programs
Double click mpas-fe.exe to install the defs
Did that work ?

Windows version?

Are you aware that the latest version of OneCare /includes/ Defender so you
don't need a separate install of the latter?

Have you tried installing the latest Defender definitions via
http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/default.aspx ?

Microsoft has established separate newsgroups for Windows Defender support
and comments. See
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...s/default.mspx

I tried your advise and it works. the new definition is installed in my WD.
but when i checked on my update history on Microsoft Updates i see no
indications that definition version:1.19.2720.2 was successfully installed.
was it really installed or not?
