Windows Defender failed to update

My Windows Defender failed to get new updates. The latest one is from
June 16. I tried all the tricks in microsoft.com website (such as mpas-
fe.exe or deleting the SoftwareDistribution folder in c:\windows) and
all have not helped at all.

Any new remedy for this recurrent issues?

Try Disabling and then re-enabling Defender as here :

Check Services.msc to be sure Defender Services are running.

I tried that -- disabling and re-enabling and still the error message
regarding the last updade shows up.
