If I were you I'd have a look on Task Manager before you try to shu
down the system, just to see what's running in the background an
taking so much of your PC's resources.
If you then 'end task' with the manager it should shut it down; howeve
some of these worms have a double-hook on the ID string that stop
Windows looking past the primary command, or they link in to th
Windows file protection system to stop you from accessing / alterin
them.
If you can find the name of the executable file (.exe) that's causin
your problem, use the search application to find out where it is an
use Win explorer to locate it exactly, together with any supportin
.dll files.
Try right-clicking it and delete; if that doesn't work rename it an
try to delete it again.
Do the same with any support files that you can find, as it canno
start without them, and if it can't start you can get at it in a numbe
of ways.
If any of these suggestions work for you, then the next thing is to ru
a registry cleaner round the system to clear out any orphaned entrie
and debris from the worm.
Let us know how you get on.
