Windows-Delayed Write Failed

I have been receiving the following message for about 4 days.

"Windows was unable to save all the data for the file
C:\Windows\System32\Config\SysEvent.Evt. The data has been lost. This error
may be caused by a failure of yoru computer hardware or network connection.
Please try to save this file elsewhere."

I'm curious as to why I would save a file of this type somewhere else, and,
of course, how I would get it to save in the new location everytime. Also,
what would that do to my computer's performance, if it would. How do I get
this to stop? I recently downloaded a tryout version of Adobe Photoshop
Elements 4.0. Could this have caused the problem? I have also been getting a
similar message in regard to Symantec/Norton Antivirus software, but haven't
written that message down yet.

Thanks for any assistance you can provided.
Fran

Sounds like a harddrive problem to me. Good time to start backing up
your data.

You might try disabling delayed write. We've disabled it on our 400 or
so XP SP2 machines.

Right click on my computer, select manage. Select Device Manager.
Select Disk Drives.

Pick the hard drive that is your C: drive and double click on it.
Select policies. Select optimize for quick removal. What this does is
disable write caching, so no more delayed writes.

You wouldn't, this is a generic message.
>>tryout version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0. Could this have caused the problem?

No.

You might also run a check disk to see what that finds.
