hello,

I am trying to PXE boot this computer against a Windows server 2008 with
WDS, but is does not work. It takes about 30 minutes just to start loading
WinPE and after 2 hour the boot.wim file as been loaded.

The computers are connected to a Cisco 3750G switch.
* If I manually set the port speed in the switch for the client to 100Mbit,
Its work perfect, It doesn’t work if I set the port speed to 1000Mbit either.

* if i change the network speed on the server to 100MB its work perfect.

I have upgraded to the latest bios, and the latest bios & drivers on the
server (Broadcom BCM5708C NetXtreme II), but it does not matter.

i looked into (i did it on the server & clients but the problem is still
persist):

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953700

clients configuration:

Ibm lenovo 9439 and Yukon Marvell network card X64 platform. (Hal = multi
processor)
AcerPower M6 nvidia network card X64 platform. (Hal = multi processor)

server configuration:

IBM x3650 - Broadcom BCM5708C NetXtreme II
windows 2008 64 bit 8G ram.

I examine the wds on Vm lab on another server (IBM x3650).

I installed 2 OS:

windows 2008 standard 32 bit.
windows 2003 standard 32 bit.

I authorized the two servers on my DHCP server.
I add options 066 & 067 for each server.

on windows 2003 everything is working fine on 1G network speed.
on windows 2008 has a network performance problems (the boot image is
downloading slow). I think that its definitely a windows 2008 issue.

can someone help me?

thanks
Chaim

Chaim,

I have seen speed issues with Cisco 3500 switches (iIrr)
They needed a software update (IOS) to fix it.
Something to do with auto negotiate the speed.

Hi !

thank you both for your answers.
i disabled RSS and TCP offload but it didnt help.

i took 3 pc's for lab.

1 of them with windows 2008 server with WDS.
the second is WDS client. (x64 paltform)
the third pc for WDS client (x32 platform - old computer 1G nic Card)

i connect them the server with a cross cable , the second computer (x64
platform) is working slow ! the third pc is working very good !!

i set the windows 2008 server card to 100MB the second computer (x64
platform) is working great with 100MB speed and so the other computer (x86
platform).

i think is somehting with windows 2008 and x64 computers platform.
