Greetings.
I have Vista Ultimate and I have a problem with DVD Maker.
I open the application, set the options and add a few video clips.
Then I click Next"" and the next screen, which looks like it could be a menu
setup, comes up and is immediately greyed out. Then a message says "Windows
DVD Maker has stopped working", with the following details.

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: DVDMaker.exe
Application Version: 6.0.6002.18005
Application Timestamp: 49e02385
Fault Module Name: iac25_32.ax
Fault Module Version: 2.0.5.53
Fault Module Timestamp: 4549bcd1
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 00003548
OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.256.1
Locale ID: 3081
Additional Information 1: fd00
Additional Information 2: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160
Additional Information 3: fd00
Additional Information 4: ea6f5fe8924aaa756324d57f87834160

I click Check on line for a solution and it appears to look, but after a
few seconds it says Windows DVD Maker is restarting, which it does. It is
then ready for me to start again.

Any ideas or help re this problem would be very much appreciated.
Thank you, B.

==================================================
Looks like an issue with the iac25_32.ax Intel Codec.

No guarantees...but maybe running the following command
to unregister the codec would be worth a try.

Go to...Start / Run...type or Copy / Paste the following command:

regsvr32 -u iac25_32.ax

Press...Enter.

You should see a dialog that says:

DllUnregisterServer in iac25_32.ax has succeeded

Good luck.

Hello John,
Thank you for your reply. I now have a bit on an idea of what is going
on.
I have not unregistered the codec yet. I don't think I have the
Start>Run facility in Vista (as I had in XP), but I assume if I type the
command in at the Command Prompt it will do the same thing?
After I do unregister the codec, can I re-register it if I find it is
needed for some other application?
If so, how do I do that?
Thanks again for your help, much appreciated.
Brian.

John is spot on, with the addendum that you must do this from "cmd.exe" run
*as administrator*. Otherwise you won't have the needed privileges.

And yes, you installed some bogus third party application that registered
IAC25_32 incorrectly. What did you install? I know old versions of K-Lite
did this, as well as some other bogus codec "packages".
