Has anyone worked out how to reduce the time between songs when burning a vcd
photo disc?
I.e if I have 10 songs @ 3 mins each = 30 mins but when I try this it might
add up to 5 mins (for example) as the space between songs is too long.
Clicking match the photo length does not help

I use the business version of Vista so Microsoft cheated me out of DVD
maker, not that I actually would use it even if somebody had a gun
pointed to my head, way too crude for my needs.

However, that said, I know a little bit about the topic. :-)

Assuming you see a timeline, and you see EOF markers where each song
ends, can you drag the start of the next song left, to reduce the gap
between songs?

Are you trying to match particular photos to particular songs or do
you not care and just want one long musical background that plays the
length of your slideshow and you're only interested in reducting the
time between one song stops and the next one starts?

appreciate your help and having worked on other software I understand what
you are saying, but as you sate the 'free' dvd maker does not offer this
facility you can ONLY add and remove tracks no editing or similar

You can try the DVD Slideshow Builder which is very powerful and very
popular now, many friends and I like it very much. It's very easy to
create a customized DVD slide show with photos and videos, and I can
add music, transitions, and cool pan/zoom effects and make beautiful
DVD menus. To be important, it has great photo and video editing
function that can meet all our needs. And it is easy to crop music to
sync with slideshow. Also, we can create .mp4, .wmv, .avi, .3gp movies
from videos in other formats for our iPod, Zune and 3GP Cell Phones,
Youtube .etc.

You can download it free here

And a specific tutorial is here

Some useful information such as tips to make slideshow awesome is

If you have XP you've already got free Windows Movie Maker. It lets
you add lots of different music and lots of photos, movies clips and
lets you edit movie clips. But it can be a bit slow and unless you
frequently save it can freeze at random times and you'll lose work.
If you have a legal version of windows XP, you can get a free program,
Microsoft Photo Story 3 for Windows XP. It can do some basic
functions. It can let you do everything windows movie maker does but
with photos.

Hope this helps!
