Windows e-mail and password requests

I recently purchased a computer with Vista and Windows mail. We've been
using it for about a month and suddenly today when we open Windows mail we
are prompted to enter our user name and password to open the program.

Why did this happen?

How can we get it to stop?

Also is there a way to disable the Password Manager?
