Windows Easy Transfer Companion Error

I am trying to transfer files from my old XP SP2 computer to my new Vista
computer without much luck. When I was initially using the original Windows
Easy Transfer software I kept getting an error message on my XP machine
saying "The migration failed. The data is invalid." So I downloaded the
companion on both machines now I am running into another issue. Both
computer recognize each other but on the Vista computer, while doing a scan
of my XP computer, gives me an Error Code -8103, Operation: loadremotedata -
transfer. In the next window it states Configuration of old computer cannot
be determined. Please let me know if I am missing something or if anyone has
a suggestion.
