I want to transfer all of my current Vista environment(files, all installed
programs, etc.) to a new PC that is also running Vista by using Windows Easy
Transfer, is it possible?

My old PC has bad sectors, will it cause the new PC problems?

Thanks for answering.

Don't think you can transfer installed programs. I may be wrong, but AFAIK
WET is for data and settings, NOT applications.
BTW, do NOT use WET to transfer Outlook data if you have it installed. It
won't work properly.

Elliot,

Easy transfer is for moving your profile and not installed applications -
you are expected to just reinstall thee on the new machine.
If your current PC has bad sectors and these prevent a clean read of the
data Easy Transfer is gathering then you will have problems getting the data
and settings off the old machine to the new.
Easy Transfer must be able to correctly read all files and folders it needs
access to to do the migration.

Many posts in the Outlook groups where using WET has caused corrupted pst
files and corrupted mail profiles, especially with Outlook 2007....
