Windows Easy Transfer using networking

Hi...

I am upgrading my system and subsequently my OS from XP SP2 to Vista Home
Premium. I am trying to use WET to transfer my setting etc over to the new
system and because I live in the backwoods of nowhere, an Easy Transfer cable
is about as easy to find as a living Dodo bird. I have instead opted for
doing the transfer over my home network.

After spending a bit of time getting the machines to network and have
permission to share etc, I tried to run WET. I have installed it on my XP
machine and have tried running it from both the new and the old machine
unsuccessfully. I keep getting an error telling me that the other computer
can not be found.

I have verified that I am able to get into my old machine AND another
computer on the network with my new machine and visa versa.

What am I missing or doing wrong? Any assistance is appreciated before I
lose what is left of my mind and start chasing imaginary butterflies.

Check your firewall settings on both machines. It may be blocking whatever
ports are needed to run it. If so disable the firewall or open the ports.

I have already disabled the firewall on both machines, that was the first
thing I thought of... any other ideas?

Be advised, there is a bug with WET; Vista is not logging any
browser history on a profile migrated from XP sp2.

If you plan on using IE browser history/favorites in Vista, suggest de-selecting the
transfer of these IE browser history files in WET.

There is a Linksys G Router connecting both systems and the highspeed cable
modem. There is also a laptop accessing wireless through the router
