windows experience index rating issue

I just bought a new PC and ran the windows experience index rating and
received a 3.0 for the graphics part.

I don't know how that is possible, here are my specs.

EVGA 790i Ultra SLI Motherboard
C2D 8400 @ 3.0 Ghz processor
4 x 2GB Supertalent 1333Mhz memory at 8-8-8-18 for 8GB total
XFX Geforce 9800 Gx2 1 GB video card
Windows Vista 64 bit Ultimate
and some other stuff.

I have another PC which has a score of 5.6 for

BFG 8800 GTX 768 MB video card
4 GB ram 800 Mhz
2.4 GHz processor OCed to 2.9
Asus P5N32-E SLI Motherboard
Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium

How is it that my new PC is scoring less on the video? Any suggestions
before I return the video card? rofl

I didn't manually install/upgrade my direct x, do you think that may be the
problem?

Hi Lukee

Here are some things to check

1. Do you have the latest nVidia GeForce 9 series video drive
installed for you 64 bit Vista

Here is NVIDIA's link
'NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Advanced Search
(http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us

2. Do you have the extra PCI-E power connector plugged into th
graphics card

3. Do you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for you
motherboard

Hope this helps

Thanks for your reply.

1. Yes, I have 175.16 for Vista 64
2. There are 2 power connectors plugged in. One is a bit bigger than the
other, so I think the answer is yes.
3. I upgraded the bios late last night and I have the latest chipset
downloaded, but when I wasn't able to. I think it wasn't signed or it may
have been a bad file. i just found out how to bypass the whole certified
drivers thing, so I'll give it a shot tonight. Thanks.

I guess I'll also download directx and make sure I have the newest version
and once I fix an error, I'll install SP1

Thanks again for your reply.

Lukee

Lukee,

I hope reinstalling and bypassing the signed drivers will work for you,
but Vista comes with DirectX 10 built in. Some games, usually older
ones, may require installing a DirectX 9 version though for them to run
properly.
