Can someone please help me? I have installed Windows Vista Home Premium and
I have reinstalled it but to no avail, the problem is still there. Everytime
I try to open "My Computer", "Control Panel" or anything else to that effect,
windows explorer says it has encountered an error and shuts down. When it
says "looking for a solution" it just restarts. I have tried using the
shellexview and shut down all programs that isnt microsoft certified but that
doesnt help eather. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in
advance.

Explore started crashing on me too. It was due to me installing something
that was non Vista compatible. So, it can be a common dll that was replaced
and is being used by other programs that are still running, even though you
have shut down some programs. My solution was to do a restore back to a
point where this program was not introduced to the system.

Can you go to the Event Viewer and see any error messages so that you might
be able to pin point the cause?

One solution you might try is once you get the O/S installed is not install
anything and take a Restore Point at that point, so you'll have something to
restore back too. As you install software, let the software run for awhile,
before you try your next install, to see if you can catch it.

Did you upgrade or put it on a clean HD. It is likely to be an
incompatibility issue.

second time today i have replied to this problem ,4months ago when this
happened to me i posted the problem and it was suggested by a few
''experts''that it was all my fault and i should get a proper anti virus
instead of norton ,a few months down the line and there are hundreds of posts
about this problem . it seems to be linked to a downloaded activex that
automatically installs another program (unwanted).if you have upgraded from
xp to vista then you might have incompatible programs on your system. You
need to get rid of everything and clean install vista with nothing on your
system .It has to be said that this problem seems to be more prevalent in
systems that have been upgraded to vista rather than a new pc/laptop with
vista pre-installed It has also been suggested that this issue is being
addressedin sp1...can we wait that long?

In the Problem Reports and Solutions center, what is the fault bucket number
for that crash?
