Windows Explorer - Details view

In Windows Explorer, I use the "Details" view exclusively. When
right-clicking the column headers in the details view, you are presented
with some options. One of them is: "Size all columns to fit". Is there
someway to make that selection the default?

I've tried setting it and then using the Folders Options to "Apply to all
folders", but that doesn't set that option.

Hi,
I don't know how to make this setting stick, but the shortcut "Ctrl" + "+"
(on the numeric keypad) will resize columns to fit.

Hope this helps,

I hear you mr sinner! This drives me nuts, I right click/size columns 2000x
a day, it is so dumb. Windows should only start hiding content when it cant
display it all on screen. I also used apply to all folders but it doesn't
work all the time for every folder.

If someone has a solution to set the name column especially to fit i would
love to hear it

Vista is even DUMBER then that. You can, and I have set column width
to automatically adjust to expand to the size necessary to show the
name of the file. Well it has been working for several months. Out of
the blue the other day it just reverted back to some arbitrary width
and no longer keeps the column wide enough. Ditto for the remember
settings option. Vista forgets because it always wants to revert back
to what it thinks best. I have no answer why these things keep
happening. One thing I KNOW, Microsoft employs some of the DUMBEST
software engineers on the planet. THAT IS THE REASON Vista keeps
making these kind of dumb mistakes. It boils down to them not knowing
what they're doing.

Only a fool would attempt to assign intelligence to anything inanimate
like software which is nothing but a set of instructions. Hello fool.

It is one of the most annoying "features". At least XP only did that
sort of thing after it crashed. Vista just arbitrarily decides to
change settings on a whim. "Bug ridden" is the only explanation.
