"Windows Explorer has stopped working": may I please req help...

When I start the machine (Windows Vista Home Basic), this message
"windows explorer has stopped working" appears soon after logging in,
and the system doesnt start - a dark screen remains. This is happening
ever since the system downloaded Windows updates for the first time.
request your help please...

Hi,

When it occurs, hit ctrl+shift+escape to bring up Task Manager. From the
applications tab, click on 'new task'. Enter explorer.exe and hit ok to
restart it.

Your system likely needs to be checked for malware or viruses, as this is
the most frequent cause of this problem.
