Windows Explorer No Longer Works, WHY?

Installed SP2, now windows explorer crashes everytime I
open it, which I have to do throught the task manager.
How do I fix this??????

I am having the same problem that windows explorer doesn't
open but eventually open up after 3-5 minutes. Same
problem when I want to switch drive in any program.
Can not get anyone in Microsoft chat line.
Any suggestions?

UMMM dont use IE ??? plenty of free browersers out their and ALOT

Problem here also. When searcing for a file, Windows Explorer freezes and
stops responding.

Likewise here, I can open Windows Explorer but when I right click a file to
get propertiessend to an application etc., Windows Explorer eggtimer locks
up, hangs for a minute and crashes. CPU activity also maxes out. I did a
System Restore to pre-SP2 install and everything worked. Re-installed SP2 and
problem came back so I have again gone back to a previous system restore and
everything works again. I guess I will wait till Microsoft fixes SP2 prior to
trying again

I had the same problem. Restored my computer twice and then unchecked auto
updates. 2 days later had problems opening my email program. Found SP2
installed by auto updates. Had previously defragged after the aborted
installation attemps and then removed a free firewall program I had for ages.
I have had no problems since. SP2 is still on my computer and everythings
seems to be working well.
